Christine Clewell, D.M.A.
Christine Clewell is Assistant Professor of Organ and Keyboard at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Adjunct-Organist at Zion Lutheran Church. She teaches applied organ, applied keyboard theory, and class piano. At Susquehanna University, Clewell studied organ with Susan Hegberg. At the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, her studies were with Carol Teti. As a recipient of a Rackham Minority Fellowship, she earned her doctoral degree from the University of Michigan in Sacred and Liturgical Studies under the tutelage of Robert Glasgow and Marilyn Mason. In addition to her academic pursuits, Clewell's church music experience is extensive; she has served in several organist/choirmaster capacities while performing in numerous recital series in congregations throughout Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New England. Along with the faculty and choirs at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, she has appeared as a guest soloist at the Washington National Cathedral and the historic Kotzschmar Series in Portland, Maine. Her scholarly interests lie in researching the European origins of organs in South America, and literature indigenous to the continent.
