visiting artists

Each year, several visiting artists are invited to IUP to share their professional expertise and experiences with our students and faculty. The purpose is to enrich our program of study with new perspectives, innovation, and applications in creative turning and furniture development. In the past, IUP has hosted artists Giles Gilson, Wendle Castle, Stoney Lamar, Mark Sfirri, John Jordon, Robert Meadows, Steve Loar, Robert Strini, David Ellsworth, Robert Sonday, and Stephen Hogbin. A permanent artist-in-residence program will begin during January 2006. Featured artists will be invited to teach and continue their professional studio work in the newly expanded studios of the Center. This position will rotate with each semester, giving students the opportunity to study with several master artists.
